Named in honor of SF's first 'monk', Junipero Serra, we're asking brewers to use two ingredients: Juniper berries + Giga Yeast's GY014 Scourmont Abbey strain. Our last competition, the Muir Woods IPA, had 26 entries and 1,000 physical votes in the tap room.


Here are the details: 

  • Must use GY014 - available at Ferment Drink Repeat homebrew store (2636 San Bruno Ave, SF)
  • Must use Juniper berries - any amount at any step in the brewing process
    • Juniper berries are available at the Barebottle Tap Room
  • Entries are due at Barebottle by Saturday, Dec 17
    • Please provide 3, 12oz bottles with your name and contact information attached to each
  • The Top 3 point scorers will brew their recipe on our production system and will be available at the Barebottle Tap Room to let the public vote on which is best
    • The winner will become the official Junipero Belgian beer and will be distributed throughout the Bay Area
